Memorial website in the memory of your loved one

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This memorial website was created in memory
of our beloved little girl,
Bethany Rose Morgan,
who was born in Hawaii on August 8, 1996, lovingly adopted at birth, grew up in San Francisco, had just graduated from 5th grade, and passed away on July 18, 2007, three weeks before her 11th birthday.
On July 16th, her family was enjoying a lovely, late afternoon at uncrowded Woodlawn Beach in Hamburg, NY, with four lifeguards on duty, when she nearly drowned. We do not know why the lifeguards did not respond to pleas for help. We do not know why not one of them entered the water. Her sister, Katie, 12, found her and tried to pull her from the water. She had a pulse! Bethany was rushed to the nearest emergency room.  We do not know why she was not mercy-flighted even though there was a helipad near the site.  We do not know why the lifeguards did not have emergency equipment near the water, nor did they have a key piece of resuscitaion equipment. Her Mom received that horrible phone call at work and rushed to the ER. Bethany was then moved by ambulance, with Mommy in the front seat, to a more well-equipped hospital. She passed away 2 days later in the hospital while her Mommy, family and friends kept vigil at her bedside.
Her older sister, Katie, and younger brother, Elliot, are heartbroken by her loss. Our whole family is wounded. She has many wonderful friends,classmates,teachers and coaches who miss her.
She is forever our beautiful, darling girl!
Four endless years and six months since our precious girl became an Angel.
On the THIRD ANNIVERSARY of losing our wonderful, enchanting girl, 24 people encircled her gravesite on July 18th at the hour of her death. The day was warm and lovely as were all the girls in their Summer sun dresses. While the adults drove to our home to prepare refreshments, the kids walked the mile there.
We remember and honor Bethany Rose.
This year, to remember the SECOND ANNIVERSARY, we gathered at Bethany's  gravesite on August 15th. It was a lovely, warm Summer day, much like the day of her accident.
We encircled her resting place and each told a memory of  Bethany.  I remembered the guest book this time.
We then had refreshments at our home.
REMEMBERING OUR BETHANY ROSE
Friday, July 18, 2008 marked the ONE-YEAR anniversary of Bethany's transition. We had a  gathering at 12:30 PM, at her resting place at the Oakwood Cemetery Annex (across from the main cemetery), on Oakwood Avenue, in East Aurora. Her grave is in the very center of the grounds.
About 37 people each brought a small decorative rock for her planter.  She loves rocks. She also received a beautiful red rose.
Refreshments were served at our home.
Her legacy
Bethany's Legacy
Ten years, eleven months, and ten days. Exactly three weeks from her birthday. It is impossible to understand why Bethany Rose Morgan had so little time on this Earth, so little time in our care. Some people say she had a Divine contract and, though she may not have known, this was her transition time. Others say she is with God and the angels in heaven, reunited with loved ones who went before her.
These thoughts provide faint solace to those of us who love her and delighted in her physical presence in our midst. We miss her exuberance, her joy, her humor, her beauty, her edge-y fashion sense, her gentleness, and her love. We struggle to find meaning and purpose in her short life and tragic death.
With her huge brown eyes—complete with a triple set of long lashes, her wide smile, and expressive face, Bethany captivated everyone with whom she came in contact from the moment she was born. A beautiful baby, she grew into a little girl with spiritual and physical beauty as well as an intuitive connection with the people she loved.
She was strong and athletic, a good student, a loving and thoughtful daughter, a devoted sister, and a best friend to many children. Her dark hair grew and grew to epic fullness. As her little friend said in her eulogy, “She had the awesomest hair.”
Though not quite 11 years old, Bethany showed us how to be a good friend, how to be trustworthy, how to be kind, and how to live life to the fullest. As her final gift, her tissues were donated so that another child could see, another child could live, other families’ prayers could be answered.
Bethany's story is not yet complete. So many people have been touched and inspired by her spirit, both those who knew her and those who never had the honor of knowing her. The purpose and meaning of her short and wonderful life will only be revealed as time passes and those who love her honor her with their own lives.
Her family, friends, teachers, classmates and her community are joining together to remember her and celebrate her lovely spirit with a variety of opportunities to contribute to the people and places she loved. As these works come into fruition, honoring and sharing her kind spirit, they will be recorded here.
